Xoxide Computer Temperature Controller
Intro Keeping your computer’s components cool is necessary to gain performance and life span. If you’re tired of frequently checking you PC’s temperature, relax we have a product that will put you to rest. Today we’re taking a look at the "Computer Temperature Controller”. The first thing I asked my self when I received the item was “who makes it”? After thoroughly scanning the box, unit, and manual I came up empty handed; this was a “no-name” product. No-name products usually are made poorly; who knows this may be an exception. Besides, when the unit goes bad, and one of my components fries, who am I going to sue? What comes with the package? -The unit with all the necessary cords So what does this unit do? It allows you to attach two thermal probes where ever you want. You then connect 4 fans in to the back of the unit (See picture below). A great feature of the unit is it supports Molex, 3 pin, and 2 pin connections. You then preset 4 temperatures. Each temperature sets of a fan. Only the first thermal probe affects the fans, the 2nd probe only displays the temperature. The unit also shows the date (Day, month, and year), time, the temperatures of both probes, and timer of how long your system has been on. To the side of the LCD there are ports for earphones, microphone, 2 USB ports, a fire wire port (1394), and four buttons. The four buttons are labeled S1, S2, S3, and S4. Each button serves a purpose. Button S1 only works by holding it in for 2 seconds; it allows you to set all the functions. When you’re in this mode, S2 lets you move up, and S3 lets you move down; S4 is reset. It goes in this order: Year > Month > Day > Hour > Minute > Temperature 1> Temperature 2 > Temperature 3 > Temperature 4 > Exit. When you’re out side of the function setting mode, S2 switches the temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit, S3 does nothing, and S4 resets everything. The only downside to this product was when they say 4 fans, they mean it. I used a 3 pin “Y” splitter to see if you could put 2 fans on one line. They both ran, but not at there full speed. In the attached video you can see how the LEDs flicker since there not getting full power. In real life they’re much more dramatic. Pros -Easy to Install Cons -You can only control 4 fans Hardewaremods.com gives this product a 9/10. |
