Logisys Illuminated Keyboard Intro

Lights... Power... Frag! Those are the words you will be saying when you are using the Logisys Multimedia Illuminated Keyboard.

Logisys Illuminated Keyboard Packaging

When I first went to my front door to retrieve this illuminated keyboard, I was nervous. The box was a bit beat up from the outside. However, Xoxide did a great job of packaging the actual product, and there was no defect what so ever.

Logisys Illuminated Keyboard Installation

The Logisys Illuminated Keyboard uses a PS/2 connection. And once it was connected Windows XP Home edition it was recognized it immediately, without the installation of the drivers which came on a floppy disc. When I first saw this keyboard I was taken back by the fact that it was so small. I was used to a Logitech elite keyboard, which is much much larger than this board.

Illuminated Keyboard Features

Currently, the Logisys Illuminated Keyboard is the only illuminated keyboard on the market to offer multimedia keys on the keyboard itself. This is a luxury that has become almost standard on normal keyboards, but it is just making it's way over to the illuminated keyboards. The multimedia keys that the Logisys Illuminated Keyboard offers are:

  • 18 Multimedia keys
  • Media
  • Stop
  • Favorites
  • Refresh
  • Search
  • Forward
  • Back
  • Mail
  • Web/Home
  • -Volume
  • +Volume
  • Mute
  • Stop (music)
  • Previous
  • Play/Pause
  • Next
  • Sleep
  • Power

NOW THAT’S A LOT OF KEYS!!

The minor things, that take away from the boards performance
When looking at the light up board it looks very nice. However there are some minor things that take away from the overall performance.
1. It is a very small board, which means that if you have semi large fingers you are going to have trouble. I learned this quick, as the backspace, space, caps lock, enter, and several other handy keys are very small and easily missed.

2. The lights themselves are not well seen unless all lights are off. However, nonetheless they are visible and with the right background very bright.

3. As opposed to other keyboards, this keyboard has no “legs” in the back to stand it up. Again something you must get used to

The cool features
1. Caps lock, num lock, and scroll lock light up in blue rather than boring green!
2. The light is very visible and bright with the right surroundings.
3. The typing noise is not very loud.
4. It is a great value at only $16.99 regularly.

Pros

Lights up
No to little noise
Great Value

Cons

Very very very small
No legs to stand it up
Essential keys are often missed, which makes for a longer time typing

Overall I give the Logisys Illuminated Keyboard a 6/10
